Two Weeks Left in NHL Season
The NHL has been expectedly mild since the Olympics break. On its current target it will match the average fights per game number of 2006-07 at 0.40.
Tom Sestito has a healthy lead in the player FM department at 19, four more than Rich Clune and Luke Gazdic. Two seasons ago both Brandon Prust and Shawn Thornton had 20 FMs for the NHL lead.
The New York Rangers and Boston Bruins both topped 60 FMs in 2011-12, something no team will likely do this season. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Vancouver Canucks are the only teams above 40 FMs at the moment.
The “best of” lists are a little more solidified at this point. Here’s the top rated fights for the NHL this season. Here are the best fights of the AHL.
