The Season Starts Heavy

With eight games taking place last night, you might guess a few fights here and there. But there were ten fights across that slate of games, with a few high-skilled dust-ups.

In Boston, we saw a heavyweight tilt as Pierre-Cedric Labrie took on Shawn Thornton late in the first period. Nothing major landed and the linesmen were quick to intervene after Thornton lost his balance.

However, midway through the second Bolts defenseman Radko Gudas lined up Jarome Iginla, and rattled him with a massive, clean, open-ice check. Vintage Iggy came out as the former Flames captain got up, dusted himself off, and challenged the youngster. The two went at it, separated, and came back together for more with Iginla getting in some decent shots.
