Shawn Thornton Plans to Play a Few More Years
Shawn Thornton still having fun
Thornton, 36, was a little beaten up after last season, but is feeling great 18 games into the new campaign. He scored his second goal of the season last night against Columbus, with a slap shot from the right boards that was tipped by Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson and flew past goalie Sergei Bobrovsky high on the short side. The B’s went on to win, 3-2, on Milan Lucic’s OT goal.
“I definitely have at least one more year in me, maybe two,” said Thornton, who was in fine form last night. “For how short of a summer we had and how banged (up) I was going into the summer, I’m surprised at how good I feel at my age. I definitely feel I have another year or two in me. That’s what I’m planning on, anyway.”
