Shawn Thornton Natural Fit for TV
Bruins’ Thornton talks good game on TV
Thornton signed on for the CSNNE gig. He’s been a regular ever since on what’s now called “Cross Checks,” a weekly TV program that includes a segment called “Drop the Gloves” that the brawler appears on. Thornton talks for a few minutes and answers questions about himself and the Bruins.
Host Michael Felger — not one to shy from prodding his guests — sometimes peppers Thornton. Fittingly, the enforcer doesn’t back down from defending himself and his teammates.
“He brings the right personality and tone,” Miller said. “He’ll give up some information and talk to things. He doesn’t speak in clichés, very straightforward. I think two years ago, Felger would give him a hard time, just the whole fourth line, he kept jabbing him and talking about the fourth line. Felger is poking at him, (Thornton’s) sitting right there next to him, and Shawn, he just has the right disposition for it. He can fire back when it’s appropriate.”
