Revisiting Shane Doan’s Retribution on Dustin Brown

Howlin' Hockey, an Arizona Coyotes fan blog, revisited a moment in the Coyotes-Los Angeles Kings rivalry that took place back in 2012. Kings captain Dustin Brown is no stranger to the rougher, sometimes borderline, side of the game. He often finds himself at the heart of the animosity in these matchups. In this instance, he drew the ire of longtime Yotes captain Shane Doan after an awkward hit on Coyotes defenseman Rotsislav Klesla. Brown wasn't penalized on the play, but Doan gave him no choice on the ensuing faceoff and drew him into a fight. The fight was all Doan in a textbook retribution scrap and another classic example of a captain going to battle for his teammates. It also laid the foundation for a memorable Western Conference Final matchup just a few months later.
