NHL Sees Slight Increase in Fighting

With all the talk of fighting being taken out of the game, the NHL has seen a slight increase in 2016-17 through the first third of the season.

Through the first 440 games of the year there have been 137 fights at an average of 0.31 fights per game, up from the 0.28 we saw during the 2015-16 season.

However, that is still a significant drop from the beginning of the decade where we saw 0.52 fights per game but the last three years has halted the slide with 391 fights in 2014-15, 344 in 2015-16 and this year on pace for a total of 383.
