New Players Highlight Canadian Games on Opening Night
The puck has dropped on the National Hockey League's regular season, and two all-Canadian battles gave us our first glimpse of the rough stuff.
The Toronto Maple Leafs visited the Ottawa Senators last night, and while rookie phenom Auston Matthews stole the show with four goals in his first game, Toronto free-agent signing Matt Martin looked to make his own first impression. Midway through the first period, he delivered a hard hit on Mark Borowiecki, who was unamused and dropped the mitts with him in a quick, relatively one-sided affair.
