Milan Lucic vs Luke Gazdic, Dec 12, 2013
This fight featured two heavyweights trading with intent. Down 3-1 and looking to spark his team in last week's Oilers–Bruins game, Edmonton newcomer Luke Gazdic challenged Boston power forward Milan Lucic to a scrap and found a willing combatant. They exchanged heavy punches from start to finish, seemingly looking to land a knockout punch at every turn. Gazdic landed two right haymakers in particular that could have crumbled a lesser fighter. Lucic landed several haymakers of his own, and mixed a couple of body punches into his attack, which Gazdic also absorbed. They finished the fight on their feet, further credit to how tough pound-for-pound these two really are.
Luke Gazdic has not been shy in his rookie year. This bout earned him his ninth fighting major this season, tied for the league lead. It is also the third time he has been featured in our Fight of the Week. Milan Lucic was quiet through the season's first two months, but has involved himself in three fights in the last two weeks.
