Matt Irwin vs Antoine Roussel, Oct 17, 2013

Matt Irwin had two fights in his professional hockey career, both in the AHL, heading into Thursday's game vs the Dallas Stars. His first NHL fight was a doozy. The young Sharks defenseman boarded the Stars' Trevor Daley as time wound down in the second period. Antoine Roussel took Irwin to task immediately, taking a no-defense approach to retribution. Irwin managed to sneak a couple of punches in at first, but was ultimately overpowered as Roussel threw right after right. Irwin tied up Roussel momentarily, but Roussel switched to his left and threw several more punches, one of which popped Irwin's helmet clean off.

It has been a busy month for Roussel, who already has three fighting majors this season. This battle with Matt Irwin is our Fight of the Week.
