Hockey Season: 2013-14
The 2013-14 season kicks off tonight as the QMJHL launches its preseason schedule as the rookies of Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Chicoutimi Saguenéens try to make an impression in their battle to earn a roster spot.
The season will present us with some intrigue, not least from the 2013 draft class.
Each of the top 10 players selected in the first round of the draft have all been signed to entry-level contracts and it promises to be one of strongest drafts for a while.
Nathan MacKinnon, who scored two hat tricks in four games as he led his hometown Halifax Mooseheads to Memorial Cup glory, was the top pick; and along with fellow youngsters Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog will look to lift Colorado Avalanche back to the heights of their former glories.
