Glad to See McGrattan Well, Maggio Will Continue to Play His Game
Daniel Maggio's KO of Brian McGrattan shook up the hockey world last night. It's not a common occurrence in any league anymore, even less so in the NHL.
The scene was frightening, and one of the names was familiar. McGrattan spent parts of nine seasons in the NHL. He gained a reputation as one of the toughest players in the sport on the ice, and one of the nicer ones off of it. Now in the AHL, with many other heavyweights, McGrattan took on Maggio during the second period in San Antonio.
When any player goes down the reaction is to find out how he's doing. When it was McGrattan, there was even more interest, along with surprise.
