George Parros Suffers Another Concussion
Saturday night George Parros fought Eric Boulton. It was the sixth fight of the year for the Canadiens enforcer, who started the season with two fighting majors on the first night. Parros fell face-first onto the ice during the second scrap that night and suffered a concussion. He was out one month.
Parros fought immediately on his return, something tough guys frequently do, proving they still have it. That was against top heavyweight Patrick Bordeleau.
Just a month and a half later Parros was now on Long Island and taking on Boulton. Boulton, always a gamer with stamina, popped Parros a couple of times at the end of their bout, sending Parros to a knee, then to the ice from the force of Boulton skating towards him while throwing punches. Parros needed a moment before getting up and went to the penalty box. He nodded at Boulton and can clearly be seen saying “I'm ok,” but was rightly taken out of the box by one of the referees and sent off.
Almost immediately after that fight there have been calls for Parros to retire. CBC was covering the game and on After Fourty P.J. Stock and Kevin Weekes discussed it, with P.J. saying, “there's a game after the hockey game.” Weekes commented on Parros' degree from Princeton and the opportunities he'll have.
