George Parros Injured on Opening Night
A fight-filled rivalry game between the Leafs and Habs kicked off the 2013-14 NHL season on Tuesday night, but things were dampered when George Parros fell to the ice face first and was knocked unconscious during the second of two scraps with Colton Orr.
As the two exchanged shots, Orr lost his balance and started to fall to the ice, taking Parros down with him, who missed on a punch and landed on his face, his helmet still on his head. After a few seconds, Parros awoke and was immediately tended to by doctors and trainers from both teams. He attempted to stand up under his own power, but was placed on a stretcher and transported to a local hospital, where he was reportedly diagnosed with a concussion.
Our best wishes to George for a speedy and full recovery.
In all, there were five fights total in the game, including the two tilts between Orr and Parros, the first of which Parros controlled. Carton Ashton and Jarred Tinordi mixed it up right before Orr and Parros partook in their second bout. Mark Fraser also dropped the gloves twice, dancing with Travis Moen in the second period and then tangling with Brandon Prust in the third.
