Andrew Desjardins vs Tanner Glass, Oct 19, 2014
With the first full week of the NHL season complete, it's time to dole out the first Fight of the Week honor of the 2014-15 season. Last week's best bout was a late addition to the fight logs, taking place in the third period of Sunday's Sharks–Rangers game in New York. With his team trailing 3-0, a frustrated Andrew Desjardins came together with Tanner Glass deep in the Sharks' zone. Desjardins, trying to spark his team and reverse their misfortunes, followed Glass all the way up the ice, trying to goad the Rangers' winger into a fight. Glass declined initially, but they came together again during a scrum in front of the Rangers' bench. They got the verbal “go ahead” from the referee, and away they went in a solid middleweight fight. Glass got the first couple of punches in, but Desjardins used his left very effectively, landing several good uppercuts.
This was Desjardins' second fight in as many nights, having earned a major after a bout with the Devils' Jordin Tootoo the night before. New York newcomer Glass picked up his first major of the regular season.
