Ducks Claim Chad Johnson off Waivers from Blues
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has claimed goaltender Chad Johnson off waivers from the St. Louis Blues.
Johnson, 32 (6/10/86), has posted an 80-67-15 record with eight shutouts, a 2.69 goals against average (GAA) and .909 save percentage (SV%) in 183 career NHL games with the New York Rangers (2009-11), Phoenix Coyotes (2012-13), Boston Bruins (2013-14), New York Islanders (2014-15), Buffalo Sabres (2015-16, 2017-18), Calgary Flames (2016-17) and St. Louis (2018-19).
Selected by Pittsburgh in the fifth round (125th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft, Johnson went 2-6-0 with a 3.54 GAA and .884 SV% in 10 games with the Blues this season. The 6-3, 197-pound netminder stopped 38 of 39 shots for his first victory of the season on November 6 vs. Carolina and posted his eighth career shutout with 33 saves on November 9 vs. San Jose.
