Dropping The Gloves Episode 277: Interview with Dylan Cozens, Buffalo Sabres
The work week is almost over, and the weekend is near! Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Dropping The Gloves with John and Tim.
On today’s episode, John and Tim were joined by former seventh overall pick Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres. Cozens had a solid rookie season, with the Sabres scoring four goals and 13 points in 41 games. He earned a silver medal with Team Canada last season at the World Juniors and finished with the most goals (8).
As we all know, it wasn’t exactly a pleasant season on the ice for the Buffalo Sabres. With a record of 15-34-7, Buffalo finished last in the National Hockey League. However, Cozens explained on the show that it wasn’t all doom and gloom. After the team moved some veterans around the deadline, the Sabres started to pick up a few key victories here and there. Cozens expressed that what they learned in the latter part of the season will help them down the line.
One of his first welcome to the NHL moments was seeing Alex Ovechkin warm up in his first career game. He also spoke about his experience getting pushed up the lineup and playing against elite competition. To experience that and then play against the likes of Sidney Crosby and Patrice Bergeron every night help mould a player.
They also down into his experiences hunting in Whitehorse, fighting in the NHL, and road life.
