Dropping The Gloves Episode 272: Krejci, Eichel, Fleury, and a Drama-Filled Weekend in the NHL

Welcome back to another week of the Dropping The Gloves podcast with John Scott and his co-host Tim Wirzburger. There was no guest on today’s episode, but there was still plenty to discuss around the NHL following the league’s free agency period.

The big topic of the day is the departure of David Krejci from the Boston Bruins. Krejci decided to move back to the Czech Republic (his home country) to spend his last few seasons playing in front of family and friends. The decision puts Boston in a hole. With very little money left to spend, Don Sweeney will need to figure out who will play as the team’s second-line centre for the 2021-22 seasons. John and Tim discussed a few names that could fill the void but non compared to Krejci. Tim also brought up that he thinks Krejci’s number should be retired, and John STRONGLY disagreed. Do you agree with Tim or John?

In other news around the league, Jack Eichel is still a member of the Buffalo Sabres, and he is not happy about it. Over the weekend, Eichel’s agent released a statement in regards to his situation with Buffalo. John reads off the statement on the show and discusses the whole situation there. It’s a sticky one.

Finally, they also dove into the Chicago Blackhawks, who have made some great moves this offseason.

You can check it all out right now on episode 272 of Dropping The Gloves with John Scott. Be sure to leave us a review, and don’t forget to subscribe to the show.
