Dropping The Gloves Episode 266: Interview with David Backes

John and Tim were joined by former NHLer David Backes on episode 266 of Dropping The Gloves.

The guys dove into many topics on the show, from growing up in Minnesota to organizing Halloween parties with the Bruins.

Backes gave us an inside look at what happened in 2008 when he accepted an offer sheet with the Vancouver Canucks. We know now that St Louis matched the deal, and Backes spent the next years with the Blues.

It wasn’t until the 2016-17 season that Backes and the Blues moved on from one another. Backes explained that the goal wasn’t to move on from St Louis; however, after the Blues didn’t want to add a fifth year on his deal, he had to decide. When multiple teams around the league came calling, Backes ended up joining the Boston Bruins. He spoke about how he helped change the culture in Boston and introduced some of the same things they had in St Louis.
