Dropping The Gloves Episode 259: 2021 Stanley Cup Preview & Predictions

After a season like no other, we have made it to the final two.

The Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning go head to head in what should be a fantastic Stanley Cup Final. Game one of the series goes ahead tonight in Tampa Bay as the two teams meet for the first time since March 5th in the same building. The Lightning came out with a 4-0 win.

In episode 259 of Dropping The Gloves, John and Tim go deep to give you a full Stanley Cup preview.

They went through both lineups comparing the forwards, defence and goaltenders.

The matchups will be interesting throughout. While Tampa Bay look like the more dominant team on paper, Montreal has proved everyone wrong each game and each round. John expressed those same thoughts. He believes that home-ice advantage will play a huge factor in this series. Especially if the Lightning can stay away from the Phillip Danault line, who has been the Canadiens best defensive forward line.

Defensively, John and Tim were split. While John believes Tampa’s defensive group is stronger, Tim disagrees as he’s going with the Canadiens. Montreal has a strong top four, which has carried them a lot in the postseason; however, the Lightning can play their full group, giving them an advantage.

Then, of course, between the pipes, it’s going to be an elite matchup. Possibly one of the greatest of all time.
