Dropping The Gloves Episode 258: “Maybe I was Wrong about Montreal”
The Montreal Canadiens proved the hockey world and John Scott wrong as they advanced to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1993. Their run has been one of the craziest in the recent memory in the NHL. Totally unexpected, to say the least.
John made a fantastic point in the show. Montreal hasn’t just been the underdog in their all series, but the underdog in each of their games too.
One big question that needs to be asked now is, what do the Golden Knights do next? They’ve invested heavy money into many players like Mark Stone, William Karlsson and recently Alex Pietrangelo. They also got little contribution from their top-six forwards, which was a major reason why they couldn’t overcome a “weaker” Montreal team. John and Tim went into detail on this question in the episode. Let us know what you think Vegas could do to help change its ways.
Towards the end of the show, the guys briefly spoke about free agency, specifically Alec Martinez and Dougie Hamilton. Martinez had a fantastic year in Vegas but will be on the back nine of his career. As for Dougie Hamilton, he’s likely to be the biggest free-agent defenceman on the market this summer. It was recently reported that Carolina would allow him to speak to the market and see what’s out there. Where do you think these two stud defencemen could land?
