Dropping The Gloves Episode 246: TOR/MTL, VGK/MIN + Round 2 Predictions

Well, Leafs Nation, how we feeling today?

Toronto failed to get the job done last night on home ice after falling 4-3 in overtime after a terrible giveaway from Alex Galchenyuk sent Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki away on a 2-on-0 breakaway. Suzuki sealed the victory for the Habs, who had earlier blown a 3-1 lead in the third period.

John was not happy when discussing the loss firstly because he lost his bet with Tim. Secondly, because of how terrible of a play it was from Galchenyuk. He still believes the Leafs win the series but questioned if the past would creep up on them once again.

Also, last night, the Carolina Hurricanes knocked out Nashville Predators in six games. Sebastian Aho scored the game-winner in overtime, and as a reward for all their hard work, they now face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the next round. The current Stanley Cup champions.

The guys showed some concern towards the Hurricanes after they had some trouble against the Predators. They went to overtime three times, double-overtime twice, and now the Lightning stands in their way. It’s certainly not going to be easy for the 2006 Stanley Cup champions.

Another series coming up is between the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders. John has been on the Islanders bandwagon for a while now, and he’s sticking to his guns. He spoke about the depth the Islanders have and also the performances of their young goaltender Ilya Sorokin.
