Dropping The Gloves Episode 230: Winners, Losers, and Surprises of the Trade Deadline

The trade deadline has passed, and now John and Tim are here to fill you with everything that happened on deadline day on a special episode of Dropping The Gloves.

The show starts in Boston, who made a splash early yesterday morning to bring Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar from Buffalo for minimal cost. They talked about the deal that happened, why Buffalo didn’t get more in return, and the Bruins’ chances moving forward. The Mike Reilly deal was also talked about and how that’ll impact the Bruins banged-up blueline.

Another winner from the deadline they mentioned was the busy Toronto Maple Leafs. John is a big fan of the Nick Foligno addition; however, he was shocked to see one player they brought in from a fellow North Divison team.

Speaking of the North Division, John goes in hard on the Edmonton Oilers after their lack of movement before the deadline. He doesn’t believe fans are happy with what Ken Holland did after only bringing in Dmitry Kulikov from New Jersey. If you can remember, a few episodes ago, John wanted the Oilers to make a splash at the deadline and bring in Taylor Hall. He’s also mentioned in the past the possibility of acquiring Jonny Gaudreau from their Alberta neighbours.

You can listen to John and Tim’s full breakdown of the NHL’s trade deadline on episode 230, which available now for download across all podcast providers.
