Dropping The Gloves Episode 225: Patrick Marleau’s Tough Decision
On today’s episode, John and Tim took a break having a guest and instead went around the NHL to update you on all the recent hockey news.
The show’s main theme was, what does the future hold for San Jose Sharks legend Patrick Marleau? Marleau has achieved a lot in his career – two Olympic gold medals, a three-time all-star, and, most importantly, has played in 1758 NHL games, the second-most all-time. The one thing missing from his resume is a Stanley Cup. The guys talked about possible landing spots for Marleau but also if he would even want to.
Do you think Marleau could be a valuable piece for a Stanley Cup contender? Leave us a comment and tell us where you think could be a good landing spot.
John and Tim went on to fire a few quick hitters at each. They discussed the COVID situation in Vancouver, Buffalo’s first win, and the new Goon Squad in the NHL, led by Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon.
McKinnon’s teammate, Mikko Rantanen, is having a fantastic season in Colorado and Adam Fox in New York. Tim and John considered both underrated stars in the league. John also talked about how the typical NHL defenceman has changed over the years and why players like Fox can now thrive in the league.
