Day After Review: Matt Martin vs Patrick Maroon Jun 15, 2021

Matt Martin and Patrick Maroon’s names popped up on my screen and I thought we were in for a doozy. Both Maroon (60) and Martin (92) are vets of this site and so I was intrigued and titillated. After I watch the video, I am left wanting more from them and others.

Tale as old as time, player touches my goalie, I respond with an interrogation as to why he would think it necessary to touch my goalie. Sergachev is the one who starts the interview and then soon, the entire precinct is in the kitchen grabbing a partner. Our two challengers grab a hold of each other and the conversation ensues. “Do you want to goes” are exchanged, and the gloves are shed.

You may not like a good clinch fight as much as the next human, but that’s really what we got from M&M *smiles at my own clever*. Can you blame them? Let go of your opponent and risk giving up position and well, your face.

What really left me wanting more was the one that didn’t happen. If you watch the clip right around the 45 second mark, linesman Ryan Gibbons points his partner in stripes over to the brewing Casey Cizikas/Ross Colton interrogation. Granted, they did save the two of them from a game misconduct:
46.7 Fighting After the Original Altercation – A game misconduct penalty
shall be imposed on any player who is assessed a major penalty for
fighting after the original altercation has started.
But I know where I will be come Thursday night for Game Three.

Danimal Rating: Fighting in the clinch, while not explosive, isn’t easy. I give it four out of ten fists

Anyways, thats how I see the fight. Disagree? Good, have you headed to the fight page and let your own voice be heard? Do it now.
Once you have done that, let me know in the comments if you think there will be a fight tomorrow night.
