Dalton Prout: It’s on

The fight talk last night and this morning was about something that I don’t log as a fight here.

Dalton Prout and Milan Lucic grabbed each other at the end of overtime in the Boston–Columbus game last night. Prout quickly got a punch in, dropping Lucic to the ice. Lucic popped back up, and the linesmen held them back as they exchanged more words before going to their respective dressing rooms as their teams prepared for the shootout.

They were given roughings. No majors, no log entry. Twenty years ago that might not have been a surprise, but today, when this is given fighting majors, it was a shock to hear the announcement.

Jack Edwards had the appropriate reaction during the NESN broadcast, “yeah, that’s rough alright.”
