Blues Continue Winning, Ryan Reaves Out
The St. Louis Blues are a point behind the Chicago Blackhawks in the newly-formed Central Division, but with only three regulation losses, they're rolling along as we reach the 25% mark of the season.
The Blues dominated the Dallas Stars last night 6-1 on the scoreboard, and once again backed it up with the gloves off, too.
Mid-way through the first period, the Blues already leading 2-1, Vladimir Sobotka took on Rich Peverley. It was a relatively even fight for Sobotka, who normally catches his opponent by surprise due to his unexpected fighting skills and sturdiness.
Less than a minute later Ryan Reaves knocked Valeri Nichushkin into the Blues bench. Brenden Dillon said something to Reaves from distance and the two shed the mitts and squared off. Reaves motioned to the helmet, but Dillon kept it on, avoiding the extra two minutes. With no camera angle on Dillon pre-fight, it's hard to say if Dillon loosened his own helmet before the fight, but Reaves was able to get Dillon's helmet off fairly quickly. The two traded big swings. Reaves connected the better shots, but skated off with a cut over his left eye and a broken hand.
