Blackhawks Welcome Carcillo’s Toughness, Abilities
Daniel Carcillo says there’s still place for enforcers in hockey
In Carcillo’s world, skill players need a ruffian in their corner to keep from being roughed up.
That said, Carcillo, who was re-signed as a free agent Oct. 4, knows he needs to bring more to the game than tough-guy stuff, and he thinks he can do that. He showed a bit of it with a goal Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres.
Scoring. Role-playing. Intangibles. Whatever it takes.
‘‘He brings energy,’’ winger Patrick Sharp said. ‘‘You could see the speed he brought to the game. What you don’t see is the guy he is in the locker room. He’s always upbeat, always having fun. Through 82 games, you need players like that to bring the room
together. He brightens up the room every day. We’re happy to have him back.’’
